Find Out What's Going On in the Homeschool Community in Santa Fe and New Mexico

Most homeschoolers in the Santa Fe area stay informed about events by becoming members of one of the following groups.

Home Learning Community of Santa Fe
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/homelearningcommunityofsantafe/

New Mexico Homeschool Community
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NewMexicoHomeschoolCommunity/

Santa Fe Homeschool Association
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/santafehomeschoolassociation/

Both Santa Fe groups have have over 100 members. The New Mexico list has many more. Some famlies choose to be on more than one list so they don't miss anything.

These lists talk about many topics including: suggested curriculum, hikes and other social outings, courses being offered, free entry to cultural events and performances at the Lensic and other locations, plus much more.

If you choose to become a member of any of these message boards, once you are approved for membership, you can set up your account to either receive all messages as they come or get a daily digest - which I find much more convenient.

The number of messages being sent ebbs and flows. Sometimes there is nothing happening on any of the boards. Other times you feel like you are being flooded with information. Summer tends to be quieter than winter. The first of a new school year is usually busy.

Other Event Sources

There are two wonderful free publications dedicated to kids available in Santa Fe. Tumbleweeds is geared specifically to Santa Fe and New Mexico Kids lists programs and events for the entire state. These can be picked up at numerous locations around Santa Fe.

Each week review the listings in Pasatiempo which comes out in Friday's New Mexican. Also check the Reporter. The New Mexican and the Reporter offer several special publications throughout the year that list events. These are also available around town. Some of these include: The Annual Manual, Kids, Bienvenidos, etc. The Journal puts out the New Mexico Museums and Monuments Summer Guide.
